This is Val, the frontman of the band, and I have very important news. Ethereal Riffian goes back to the astral plane. In other words, the band is put on hold.
It’s not a decision that I, or we made recently. The understanding that it has to be done came to me during the meditation retreat on the 13th of December 2018. I’ve been following it ever since telling only a few people. Since almost all the activities related to the ‘Legends’ campaign is completed and after dedicating about 30 hours a week since April 2019 to make the album shine, I feel that my work is fulfilled and I can share this decision with everyone.
As I wrote in the press-materials related to ‘Legends’ album, I believe that we as a species, don’t have more than 20-30 years to turn our course from self-destruction to peace and prosperity. Unfortunately (or fortunately), music hasn’t become a tool that I can use to help to change that course. Despite all our efforts, too few people are able to grasp the energy behind the music and its message. The reach that the band gained during the 9 years of our creative work doesn’t allow me to channel the spirit of deep transformation on the scope that I initially envisioned. It will take a long time to seek new solutions and regroup and humanity doesn’t have that time. Every day of inaction or wrong action brings us closer to our doom. And I’m not talking about the psych stoner/doom that we love, but rather about the doom which supposes that our planet becomes inhabitable for homo sapiens and many other species.
I feel that there are better ways to use my potential and make my contribution to the creation of a better world. From now on, I will be busy helping the Isha Foundation led by Sadhguru. These people work hard in many different directions to make this world a better place and what’s most important they’re giving very efficient tools for inner transformation adapted for the modern person.
Why are these tools important? There were a lot of economic, social and political reforms during the last century but as we see they aren’t sufficient. The inner reform of mankind is missing to save us from our dark side. For this reason, these spiritual tools, these technologies for individual and collective well-being are of incredible importance. Because they allow that inner reform to happen.
As for the band, we had a very nice conversation and my decision was met with understanding. There’s no conflict between us and we’re ending this era on a bright note. Whether the Spirit behind the Ethereal Riffian will come back into this world in two years or in two hundred years is beyond my knowledge. Time will tell where the river of life is flowing.
We would like to thank every being who helped us during the 9 years of our work. Our families, friends, fans, bookers, labels, fellow bands, artists, designers and everyone who joined our journey – we bow to you. You are the reason we made it this far.
As for the last words…I always wanted to touch the deeper part of a human being with our creative work and I have put that energy and intention into our albums and books together with my bandmates. No matter what future holds, you have 7 Ethereal Riffian releases and my hope is that they will continue spreading the energy and ideas of inner transformation among the people of Earth.

From the release of Shaman’s Visions in 2011 to the high-quality live videos from our last performance in Kyiv on the 20th of October. We will also share ‘Afterlight’ DVD (that was previously hidden from public) in full.
After this last campaign is over, the transmission will end.
