Neo-Psychedelic Rock with Prog and Blues influences
Journeying", “...hypnotic atmospheric melody”...
Я бы ещё отметил небольшую схожесть сабжа с Mad Season и Walking Papers.
Вот, к примеру, очень хорошее, детальное ревью:
"Psychedelic Blue Ox is a neo-psychedelic rock band and is a partnership between Alan Kaishin Crawford and Colin Ives, both from the North West. Their EP, ‘The Rainbow’s Tail’, draws from blues rock and progressive rock influences such as Pink Floyd, Cream and the Beatles to name a few. All the tracks on the EP are written, performed, recorded and mixed by the guys and the album is a self release.
The first track on this four track EP, ‘Slipping Away, Slipping Down’, has heavy fuzz with a definite Cream influence. Some great vocals and harmonies and a mean guitar solo from Alan. There is plenty of varied instrumental input, plus well worked bass from Colin and some acoustic guitar giving a really good sound overall.
‘Life Is What You Make It’ is slower in tempo, but with pounding rhythms on the drums from Colin, giving an epic sound. Next, with reminiscent sounds from the 60′s, ‘Sleep Silent Dreams’, has terrific harmonies with a leaning towards the Beatles or Pink Floyd. The electric guitar works well with acoustic guitar and the vocals are superb.
The final track on this exceptional album and its name sake, ‘The Rainbow’s Tail’ is a beautifully worked track with slow rhythms and poignant harmonies, which is its main feature. There is also some magical guitar playing from Alan.
The EP gives a good ‘taster’ for what is in store on a full album and it is refreshing getting away from the standard blues rock, to explore the progressive rock genre. The influences of the greats are there, but ‘Psychedelic Blue Ox’ have put their individual stamp on the music they play, so the EP was a much enjoyed listen."

А тут можно почитать о деталях совместной работы над песнями, процессе записи и источниках вдохновения музыкантов:
In true D.I.Y fashion, the E.P and coming album have been written, performed, recorded (at home, between Alan's living room floor and Colin's barge on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal), mixed, self-released and promoted by Alan and Colin themselves, with Mastering by Jed Stephens of electro-indie band, Exchange, and drums by David Stephenson.
The idea arose out of two different but complementary visions. Alan, having always loved the late 60's Psychedelic sounds of the Beatles' experimental period and the bluesy psychedelia of bands like Cream and The Jimi Hendrix Experience, had recently reignited an enthusiasm for song writing after discovering the growing neo-psychedelia movement and was feeling inspired to start writing some riffs and melodies. Colin had an ambitious vision about creating a progressive concept album and was feeling inspired to start writing lyrics again after some time away from music. These two separate but harmonious ideas came together to form the basis of Psychedelic Blue Ox.
The pair make a great song writing partnership - Alan focuses on writing riffs, melodies and chord progressions, playing guitar, keyboards and vocals and making some contributions to the lyrics. He draws on 20 years as a musician and 15 years gigging in a variety of genres. Colin uses his flair for poetic lyrics to bring the concept to life and take listeners on a journey, writing the majority of the lyrics and the spoken narrative. He plays bass and acts as recording engineer, taking care of production and mixing.
