Bio
Troubled Coast is a post hardcore band from the East San Francisco Bay Area in California. Formed in 2009, the band currently consists of vocalist Mike "Mile" Scornaienchi, guitarists Cory Bardwell and Brandon "Dragon" Wark, drummer Tahm Altemus, and bassist Randy "Caveman" Staat. The band combines multiple guitar melodies and vocal harmonies with heavy guitars and yelling in a way that combines the styles of Thrice, Verse, Alexisonfire, and La Dispute. They recorded their first full-length, titled ''100 Miles From Home'', at The Atomic Garden Recording Studio in East Palo Alto, CA. A record label was found and in December of 2009, Troubled Coast released the 10 inch LP on Creator-Destructor Records. A few months later they went back to Atomic Garden to record and then self-released Vagabonds EP, a slightly more melodic and progressive album that took a few steps away from the hardcore vibe. In late 2010, they went to Aaron Hellam at Castle Ultimate Studios for their latest project, a full length titled "Letters." The album goes in a new direction, offering more clean singing, and in some songs, a poetry style in the vein of La Dispute, mewithoutYou, etc. The overall sound differs, moving from upbeat and fast to slow and calm, then straight to heavy and dark. It features many guest talents, including cello and harmonica players and James Phillips(of Final Fight) on guest vocals. It is scheduled to be released in 2011.
